snowshoeing in the Never Summer mountains

Five friends and I snowshoed 2 miles into the Never Summer Mountains to a little hut stocked with firewood and bunk beds. we played in the snow till dark, built a fire in a wood stove and cooked delicious food. It snowed the entire trip, and was a beautiful winter wonderland. My first time in the mountains in months!

a copper bee pt. 1

I am in the process of making a set of bee earings. This is a piece of thick copper (16 gage) and i am cutting a bee profile out using a very thin saw blade. more pictures on my progress will be posted over the weeks..

Mechanical Lathe Machine work

I made steel buttons at the studio this week using a lathe machine to make them shiny and uniform.

Gingerbread cake

jasper made a gingerbread cake that calls for heating stout on the stove with molasses. along with ginger, black pepper and cinnamon were the only additional spices. we enjoyed it hot out of the oven with glasses of almond milk and guinness.

a chilly walk across the millennium bridge, with st. Pauls cathedral still dominating the skyline, brought us to the modern collections.

the entrance and foyer to this giant of museums was impressive enough to leave one feeling very small and new. Then you get the egyptian ruins, the rosetta stone, and massive lions that use to guard the roman empire

This old lady comin' up the escalator at the Tate Modern had a coat that is probably illegal in the US. she was wearing at least 10 foxes around her and a real leopard skin hat. it was kind of creepy and made us want to throw paint on her...but we have any..

what futuristic eco products would you invest in?
we got to check out a dozen or so prototypes of ways to save energy. from wave bobs that produce electricity, to hard drives with breathable cardboard shells to glasses that have self adjustable prescriptions (watch a 20 min video of these on www.ted.com. there was a toilet with a sink build in, flexible solar sheet panels, and light producing algae...
my favorite was honeycomb shaped water containers that double as building blocks for walls and shelter, a great package design for sending aid to any region in need of food or water.

the Borough Market

Walking along near the globe theatre, we stumbled upon a wonderful outdoor market. Fresh seafood stews in boiling cauldrons, produce, mulled wine, lavender and cheeses from france, and some fresh kill ready to be sold by the kilo.
