Perigee.
Perigee is the point at which an object makes its closest approach to the Earth.[1] Often the term is used in a broader sense to define the point in an orbit where the orbiting body is closest to the body it orbits.[1] The opposite is the apogee, the farthest or highest point. A "supermoon" is the coincidence of a full moon (or a new moon) with the closest approach the Moon makes to the Earth on its elliptical orbit, or perigee.
